Quick & Festive-Friendly Workouts
December 9, 2025It’s tempting to “take December off” — but here’s the brutal truth: stopping completely is the biggest risk to your health and progress.
Why?
- Deconditioning: Within 2 weeks of complete abandonment of your usual fitness routine, cardiovascular fitness begins to drop and muscles start losing endurance.
- Momentum loss: Habits built all year can be harder to restart come January.
- Energy dip: Sedentary routines often increase fatigue and mood swings, not rest.
The good news: Staying active doesn’t mean sticking to a full training plan. Even shorter, lighter sessions 2-3 times p/week will protect your progress and keep you feeling strong. Before you set off for holiday, figure out how you can stay active while away from home (or even at home):
- Look out for fun, family-friendly activities like hiking, or surfing, happening at your holiday destination.
- Pack in those bats, rackets, balls, and frisbees! These are all great, and fun, ways to stay active on the beach or in the park.
- Going to the mall? Park as far away from the entrance as you can manage, and get a few extra steps in for the day.
- Explore some mini-moves you can do anywhere, anytime, to incorporate in your everyday.
Mini-moves you can do anywhere:
- 10 squats before brushing your teeth.
- 5 minutes of dancing while your coffee brews.
- 10 push-ups + 20-second plank before your shower.
Remember: Something is always better than nothing. Keeping the body in motion is about maintaining momentum, not perfection.
CTA: Don’t wait for January to “start fresh.” Keep moving with CaptD through the holidays and enter 2026 stronger, not struggling to restart.
